A blue sky and slight off shore breeze was enough to entice the most dedicated out of their offices and into the sunshine at Ohope on Thursday August 15th, as those representing local not-for-profit causes and charities came to gether to learn more about creating thier own financial sustainability for the future.

Eleanor Cater of Community Foundations of New Zealand dished out the tools to enable those present to confidently ask their followers for major gifts or bequests. Eleanor explained the science behind why people give, and how to create a sustainable income stream to ensure the longevity of the charity or cause they represented.

There were some light bulb moments, especially when learning what a rather modest gift to a charity can return over time using the endowment fund model.
