Trevor Gray, previous manager of the Tindall Foundation had prepared well for the day he would spend working with the Trustees of our Community Foundation, alongside Bill Holland, previous Chairperson of the Acorn Foundation ( our big sister, just up the road) and Eleanor Cater from Community Foundations New Zealand. The day would give us a brief time to reflect on the first five years and to look at where our best opportunities lay for the future.

Together we talked about our biggest challenges and our aspirations for the difference a healthy Community Foundation could make in transforming our communities, in some of the areas of high social deprivation.

Committments have been made by Trustees to work together to realise the vision, and to make better the place we all live, work and play.

Trevors insight and his knowledge shared of working with communities up and down New Zealand has really helped to broaden the aspect of our drive for success.  Bills experience with the then, small struggling Acorn Foundation to build it into what it is today sixteen years later, was inspirational. His honesty about mistakes made and lessons learned was worthwhile. Eleanors perspective and experience in Porirua was also very helpful, in opening our eyes as to what happens when an agreed plan is not adhered to.

Our Foundation is in good heart, as we head into the next five years...come and join us. Your generosity will go a long way towards creating a better future for our region and its residents.
