Does your current Will need updating?

This September is officially 'Wills Month', a time to pause and reflect, to create a new will or review and modify what is already in place. Almost four in ten kiwi adults or 40% of New Zealanders do not have a Will, at all.

Around 1500 people die each year without leaving any indication at all as to what they would like to happen to their assets. This, then becomes a lengthy and complicated procedure to unravel and dissolve a deceased persons estate.

Wills are linked to financial stability and family security. A Will is a legal document that specifies guardianship for children and how assets are dealt with after death.

Why would you want someone else making that decision?  Peace of mind comes with 'having your house in order'...even when you don't own an actual house! What will happen to your Kiwisaver ? etc

This is also a really good time to be thinking about leaving a gift to a charity or cause that means a lot to you, through personal experience, or connection, or a charity doing amazingly good work that you have always admired, and the impact that charity has in the community.

At www.easternbaycommunityfoundation.nz you are able to see and read about those who have made this conscious decision to support local causes.
