Thornton Park has been at the heart of providing residential aged care in Opotiki for many years. Connections of current residents and caring locals have come together to form the Friends of Thornton Park, a group of willing volunteers looking to initially provide all residents of Thornton Park with an accessible multi-purpose van with wheelchair capability for outings to enable full participation in local events and experiences in Opotiki and beyond. After this goal is achieved the Friends of Thornton Park wish to provide ways for residents to ‘live their best life’ whilst residing at Thornton Park.

The ‘Friends of Thornton Park’ are currently campaigning in Opotiki, through their own networks and among the business community to establish support for this fund. Every little will help make their aspirations a reality for the seniors/ kaumatua of the Thornton Park community. 

The generosity of local people will help to greatly enhance the life experiences of the residents of Thornton Park and allow them to have a continued connection to the community they call home.
