A local Opotiki resident chose the Eastern Bay Community Foundation as the pathway to acheiving a greater selection of books in the 'large print' section of the newly relocated Opotiki Library. This generous gift has been warmly received by readers and library users in the town centre of Opotiki. Library users come from the rural and coastal areas to use this facility, travelling up to two hours each fortnight to replenish their stock of books.

Chief Librarian Jo Hunt says "The new books have been a very welcome addition to the library and the new titles are enthusiastically sought after, particularly by the older residents of the district, who are avid users of this community facility. It is only now that the library has moved into new premises with more space, that we have been able to expand the range available, so the gift, which has been nurtured by the Community Foundation has proved to be timely, waiting until we had the capacity to make the best use of the funds."
