Gordon Nelson Rescue Equipment Trust Transfer
In response to a tragic accident that took the lives of larger-than-life Opotiki businessman Gordon Nelson and his friend Frederick Ruff, the people of the Opotiki District poured donations into a fund, specifically to be used for communication and rescue equipment in this remote region.
Scholarship Applications open August 1st
Our Community Foundations is excited to be offering two opportunities for scholarships, in 2023. The Jean Smithson Nursing Scholarship & The Rod McPherson Memorial Rural Scholarship. Both of these opportunities are aimed at rural communities in the Eastern Bay of Plenty and will add to the skill set in both primary health care and hands on farming.
A new partnership to grow philanthropy at grass roots level across Aotearoa-New Zealand has begun with dairy farming co-operative Fonterra. Locally in the Eastern Bay of Plenty, we are exploring some exciting and innovative ways to work together with our farming communities to grow and strengthen our impact in the region.
On Thursday March 2nd, Her Excellency Dame Cindy Kiro opened her Wellington residence to host a reception, acknowledging the powerful work of Community Foundations in Aotearoa- New Zealand.
